Service Description
As a Mindfulness Now accredited teacher (in training) I offer the Mindfulness 6 week programme as individual 1 to 1s, as well as group sessions in mindfulness based practices. Who is this for? - The course is open to anyone. - Do you feel like you are operating on autopilot? - Like you are driving somewhere and after can’t remember the journey? - Do you feel ready to wake up and come off autopilot? - Are you constantly in fight of flight mode, reacting from one stressful event to another? - Do you want to learn how to reduce stress and anxiety? - The course is well suited to new people new to mindfulness and meditation, or for those looking to re-establish or expand their practices. What will you experience and learn? - Reduce stress, anxiety and enjoy pain relief. - The heart of mindfulness; to encourage awareness and focus across multiple forms including breathing, physical sensations or emotions. - Mindfulness incorporating a range of practices including meditation which dates back to over 2,500 years of traditional and religious teachings. - Wake up from autopilot, and be conscious in the present moment - seeing the detail of sky, the other drivers, stopping at lights and taking a breath. - Learning meditation, letting go of thoughts and observing them with a non-striving mind. What is the Mindfulness Now Programme? - Mindfulness Now offers a fusion of mindfulness based approaches including evidence based, -- Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and -- Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). - The latter, developed by Dr Mark Williams and colleagues of the University of Oxford and the Oxford Mindfulness Centre, offers a breakthrough in the clinical treatment of depression, anxiety and emotional trauma and is recommended by ‘NICE’ as a treatment of choice for depression. - In 1979 Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre – Stress Reduction Clinic began developing a psycho-educational programme which became known as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). This provides an integration of mindfulness meditation with proven psychotherapeutic approaches into an accessible and evidence based approach which has been taught worldwide.
